GTBank Gambia has unveiled a new technology banking product; the *737#. Reacting to the launch of the USSD mobile phone service, GTBank Managing Director said 737 “is a product for people of all works of life anywhere in The Gambia”. He added that the product is a simple, reliable, smart, and safe way to bank anytime, anywhere, on the go and on any device and it does not require credit or internet.”
CEO Adesina Adebesin said the launch of 737 is once more a fulfillment of the Bank’s promise of making banking easier for its teeming clientele. He added that GTBank Gambia will continue to leverage on technology to introduce tailored products that meet its diverse customers.
GTBank customers can now perform banking functions such as transfers to third parties in either GTBank or all other banks in The Gambia, check account balances, request a mini statement, open a GTBank account, buy mobile phone credit of any network, buy NAWEC Cash Power, pay school fees, pay GRA tax, generate a Bban, among many other functions.
Mr. Adebesin explained that with the 737 product opening an account, transferring funds or paying bills could now be done at any time of the day by sending a text message to activate the required service even long after the banking hours.
The 737 is a complimentary service toGTBank Mobile App which was launched in November 2017. According to Mr. Adebesin while the 737 is available to GTBank Gambia domestic customers, the Mobile App is available both in The Gambia and abroad. The difference is also that the mobile app is internet based while the 737 can be accessed using just any phone and does not require internet.
The 737 is currently available only to customers using an Africel line. Plans are advanced to enable customers using other GSM service networks access the service.
